At the beginning of the Edo period, the Obama domain's lacquer painter, who was located near Wakasa Bay, took inspiration from Chinese lacquer ware making techniques and created a design of the seabed.
The process of applying multiple layers of lacquer and polishing it and the decoration using shells are characteristic.

Apply lacquer once, allow it to dry for a while, paying attention to shrinkage and discoloration, and then apply lacquer again.
At the end, delicate work is required to smoothly sharpen the surface until the sharpening marks and small scratches disappear.
Therefore, it will take about 3 years to complete the set. (Depending on the decoration)
